Recently, residents and potential investors at Lodha Park attended an event in collaboration with the Japanese retail giant MUJI.
Lodha Park Socials: Rediscovering Design, Form and Functionality at with MUJI
Founded in the 1980s with only 40 products, MUJI is now a globally renowned brand offering top-quality items that last a long time. The brand has been a long-standing pioneer in minimalistic philosophy and creating a no-logo image. Every product at MUJI is designed to emphasise practicality and functionality. Featuring simple designs, the products are utilitarian and sustainably made. Embodying Japanese ethos, MUJI is more than a brand; it is a way of life that can transform one’s overall well-being. With so much to offer, MUJI was the perfect collaborator for an exciting and engaging event at Lodha Park.
Rohini Rajagopalan, a professional organiser and design expert, hosted the event to ensure that MUJI and Lodha’s values were communicated to the attendees in the best way possible. Rohini offered insights from her experiences to make the discussion more focused and valuable. Here’s a quick rundown of all the various facets of the discussion:
Minimalist Living
MUJI is a brand that exemplifies the minimalist movement that has gained a stronghold in the last few decades. As more and more people feel pushed towards increasing consumerism, minimalism can help one resist the urge to purchase more than necessary and live a decluttered life. MUJI has always prioritised creating products that last long and don’t have to be repurchased repeatedly, allowing their consumer base to move towards a minimalist life. Their products also feature clean lines, sharp angles and simplistic design; hallmarks of minimalism. At Lodha, we also believe in keeping our projects elegant, functional and timeless, adhering to the principles of contemporary aesthetics and superior craftsmanship.
Sustainable Designs
While MUJI creates long-lasting products, they do so without cutting corners when it comes to sustainability. The discussion touched upon MUJI’s focus on sustainable designs and operations and why an environmentally conscious approach is the cornerstone of everything the brand stands for. Attendees were encouraged to look for designs that simplify their lives without damaging the environment. Since, at Lodha, we also practice sustainability at different levels of our organisation, we were more than happy to promote an environment-friendly approach along with MUJI.
Japanese Aesthetics
In the last few years, Japanese aesthetics have taken the world by storm, and India is no exception. Several of Lodha’s projects also feature Japanese elements like zen gardens, shizen (absence of pretence), and wabi-sabi (less is more). MUJI’s designs highlight these elements and have made them a globally recognised phenomenon. The discussion at Lodha Park explained how such elements could help simplify everyday life and bring peace.
Workspace Optimisation
Japanese philosophy focuses on efficiency and reducing waste of space, time and effort. MUJI offers plenty of products that help you streamline the workspace by optimising your office or desk. While Lodha residences are designed similarly to make the most of the space and streamline flow, residents can learn more about the same to incorporate it into their daily lives. The discussion emphasised how to set up the workspace to make it more organised and ensure productivity and mood stay up.
Storage Solutions
One of the ways homeowners can save space is to opt for smart storage solutions. MUJI is renowned for its smart designs, especially items that take up little room or can transform to save space. At Lodha, we provide plenty of storage space and ensure that our residential and commercial spaces are designed to accommodate the same. The discussion touched upon doing away with old-school clunky storage facilities to opt for modern and cleverly designed solutions that optimise space.
Seasonal Trends
The discussion ended with a brief talk on seasonal trends. As a brand, MUJI has remained relevant for more than four decades. However, while the brand stays ahead of the curve, they rarely succumb to the pressure of adhering to seasonal trends. Similarly, at Lodha, we also believe in designing projects for the long run rather than a fleeting trend. By the end of the discussion, attendees were encouraged to be more mindful about their consumption and purchase with an eye towards the future.
The event left attendees with plenty of food for thought regarding their space, purchasing habits and the impact design can have on their lives. While attendees got the opportunity to learn and socialise with one another, they also partook in a lavish high tea spread courtesy of Saint Amand.
Just like MUJI, at Lodha, India’s No. 1 real estate developer in Mumbai, we believe in creating an experience that goes beyond the standard
